iPad A Rip Off?

Well, according to a news article on www.hardocp.com there is a Chinese company that is considering a lawsuit against Apple claiming the iPad is a rip off of their product. Here is the link to the article.

The thing I’m wondering about this situation is, doesn’t this also mean the iPod Touch is also a rip off? All that the iPad sums up to is an over grown iPod Touch, with a less than stellar cell phone carrier option. However the situation pans out I would have to admit that I am a little interested to try one because I can see the merit in a device such as the iPad for use around the house and for the frequent travelers.

All the latest Doodads

It seems lately that you can’t go an entire week without hearing about the release of some new doodad that will revolutionize (insert your favorite technology here).  Whether it is a new tablet PC, a new cell phone, or some other hybrid concoction that is guaranteed to make your life easier, more productive, or whatever; I am getting pretty tired of it all.

Now don’t get me wrong.  I love technological advances as much as the next geek, but I honestly can’t get too excited anymore about over-sized glorified palm-pilots (remember those?) that will be obsolete in a few weeks when the next piece of gadgetry comes down the road, or the next firmware update that makes me wonder; “hmmm, why didn’t they think of that originally?”  My curiosity about all these new items is fleeting at best.   I have become numb to all the hype that surrounds the introduction of these wonders of modern technology.  Enough!  At least for a little while let me have a bit of peace before trying to get me to buy another piece of junk.  A week or two is all I ask.

So now that I have ranted let me finish this blog article with the words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that!”

Perfect wireless security

Published by David Kofler under Misc,Networking

I was lounging in my living room, surfing the internet by accessing my new wireless router and it suddenly occurred to me, my network is not secure! Any evil doer could be lurking in my neighborhood just waiting to steal my wireless signal!

Now I could secure my router by:

  • Creating a unique password on my router
  • Filtering MAC addresses allowing only those that should connect
  • Turn the router off when not in use

That all seems like just too much work! There must be an easier way! While I was surfing the net on my slow, hacked network, I found the solution!

I could just paint my house!

By painting my house with a special Anti-wi-fi paint, I could block all wireless signals from entering or leaving my house! The perfect solution! This will stop all of those evil hackers from connecting to my wireless network!

At an estimated cost of only $160.00 a gallon, it is quite the deal!

And I don’t need to be bothered with:

  • Creating a unique password on my router
  • Filtering MAC addresses allowing only those that should connect
  • Turn the router off when not in use

If you love this idea, and implement it, please let me know! Just don’t bother trying to reach me on my wireless cell phone.
