It looks like the next generation on CPUs will have a much faster bus speed according to the recent press release from Intel. Apparently the photonics department at Intel has developed a way to create a hybrid chip that harnesses the speed improvements of using fiber optic communication over the traditional copper solution. And according to artstechnica.com you could have the interface they developed reach speeds of 1Tb/s, or to quote the article, “At that speed, you could download the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress in under two minutes.”
